University of Turin (Torino University)
University of Turin / Università degli Studi di Torino offers the Medicine and Surgery program conducted in English under the name MedInTO. The program is classified as LM-41, is six years long, and is a 360 ECTS single-cycle medical program. There is a critical point for candidates to note: the MedInTO program is associated with the San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital hub in Orbassano rather than the main university campus in the city center of Turin. Therefore, the reality of Orbassano/San Luigi should be taken into account when planning accommodation, transportation, and clinical rotations.
When evaluating the program, not only the IMAT cut-off should be considered; the Orbassano campus, 70/30/2 quota structure, IMAT requirement, Apply@UniTo process, Universitaly/IMAT schedule, COU fee system, EDISU Piemonte scholarship, YKS/diploma eligibility, English/Italian B2 requirements, and clinical internship conditions should be considered together.

The EU and Non-EU quota/cut-off columns show the official ranking data published in the relevant years. Past cut-off values do not guarantee acceptance for future periods.
The latest official quota structure used for Turin / MedInTO is 70 EU/Italy-resident, 30 standard Non-EU, and 2 Marco Polo quotas (total 102). This field should be updated when a new MUR/UniTo quota announcement is published.
For the 2024/2025 and 2023/2024 periods, there are different, year-specific quota records in this site's own verified cut-off data (2024/2025: 31 standard Non-EU + 1 Marco Polo; 2023/2024: 32 Non-EU). These past records should not be confused with the current 70/30/2 structure; both belong to their own year.
There is no verified final Non-EU ranking PDF in the source set of this page for 2025/2026. The displayed value of 70.8 is the site's 2024/2025 historical IMAT cut-off data; it is not presented with an official final cut-off label and does not guarantee admission for the next year.
Cut-off values reflect past years; they do not constitute a guarantee or a target score commitment for the upcoming academic year.
It is not shown on this page because there is no reliable, verified source for the ranking position (the place of the last admitted candidate in the ranking).
Program and training structure
The Medicine and Surgery program (MedInTO), in class LM-41, is a six-year single-cycle (Single Cycle Master Degree) program and is conducted entirely in English; it has a total structure of 360 ECTS/CFU.
Students applying to the Turin Medicine program should be aware that the English MedInTO program is associated with the San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital hub in Orbassano, and this may affect accommodation, transportation, and clinical period planning. This English program is completely separate from Turin's own Italian medical program.
Clinical contact starts early, and the problem-focused structure called "clinical backbone" continues from the 2nd year to the 5th year. Attendance is mandatory.
If a score below 4 is obtained in the Math/Physics section of IMAT, a Math/Physics OFA (additional education requirement) may be assigned. In addition, although IMAT is accepted as an entry exam, after enrollment, students undergo an internal English assessment; if the MedInTO coordinator determines that the student's level is below B2, an English OFA is applied.
For practical ward clerkships (clinical internships) starting from the 3rd year, students must have reached Italian B2 level; passing the internal English and Italian Medical Language course can meet this requirement.
Tuition Fee
Turin's fee system (COU) is based on the income/country indicator; there is no fixed Turkey group or automatic Turkish student rate.
There are two ways for international students: the Equivalent ISEE (ISEE Parificato) calculated with income documents from the consulate, or automatic calculation based on the country's GDP per capita (PPP) value.
If the necessary documents are not submitted and the GDP option is not used, the student will be subject to the maximum COU tariff (€3,040 for 2025/2026).
Turkish candidates should decide early whether they will follow the ISEE Parificato route by submitting consular income/property documents or prefer the GDP per capita (PPP) route; if this choice is not managed correctly, the student may be subjected to the maximum fee.
2025/2026
The University of Turin regulates tuition fees through the Contributo Onnicomprensivo Unico (COU) system. For the 2025/2026 academic year, this fee can be reduced to €0 for students residing in Italy with a low ISEE (in addition, approximately €140 regional tax + €16 stamp duty may apply), while on a general scale, it can reach up to €3,040. For international students, Turin offers two alternative paths: the candidate can have an Equivalent ISEE (ISEE Parificato) calculated by presenting consular/official income documents, or choose to have their fee calculated directly based on the GDP per capita (in terms of purchasing power parity, PPP) of their country. If the student does not provide the required income documents and does not use the GDP option, the maximum fee set for that academic year (€3,040) will apply. There is no fee group specifically designated for Turkey in the system; Turkish candidates should evaluate whether to follow the ISEE Parificato route by presenting consular income/property documents or the GDP per capita (PPP) route, otherwise they risk being subject to the maximum COU fee.
Scholarship and dormitory applications
The main scholarship and student rights institution in Turin is EDISU Piemonte. The relevant call is published under the name "Bando per borse di studio, servizio abitativo e premio di laurea" and applications are submitted through the EDISU Online Portal (with SPID/CIE or Temporary Access Code).
The application deadline for the 2025/2026 academic year has been published as September 9, 2025, at 12:00. The exact date for the 2026/2027 term has not been published as of the date this page was prepared; the previous year is provided on this page only as a historical reference.
For the application, it is necessary to have the foreign income documents translated and legalized/apostilled, and to create an ISEE Parificato (Equivalent ISEE).
The scholarship coverage is extensive: it may include tuition fee exemption, cash support, cafeteria discount, and significantly subsidized accommodation; the coverage varies according to the annual call text.
Critical planning point: the application schedule is strict. Applications usually open in July and close suddenly at the beginning of September (e.g., September 9). This means that international students — long before IMAT results are announced, during the summer — need to collect, translate, and legalize family income documents and complete the EDISU application before enrollment. Missing the EDISU deadline completely deprives the student of regional funding for that academic year.
Non-EU application roadmap
- 1
Apply@UniTo window (pre-assessment of foreign diploma)February 19 – April 15, 2026
The general pre-application/diploma pre-evaluation window on the Apply@UniTo portal for candidates with foreign diplomas is between February 19 and April 15, 2026. Foreign qualification holders should follow this window as applicable; admission to Medicine and IMAT registration, however, depends separately on the national schedule of MUR/Universitaly.
- 2
Universitaly pre-enrollment and IMAT registration
The IMAT 2026 registration window has been announced by MUR as August 26–September 9, 2026, 15:00 GMT+2. Candidates applying for a non-EU visa should also check the local dates for Universitaly/pre-enrollment and UniTo Medicine from the current official sources.
- 3
Don't confuse the processes: Apply@UniTo, Universitaly, and IMAT are separate steps
The general diploma pre-evaluation phase of Apply@UniTo should not be confused with the IMAT registration / Universitaly steps. Candidates with foreign diplomas should follow UniTo's February 19–April 15, 2026 pre-application/diploma evaluation window as applicable. The 2026 IMAT national exam date is September 29, 2026; the IMAT registration window has been announced as August 26–September 9, 2026, 15:00 GMT+2. Universitaly/pre-enrollment and UniTo local dates should also be checked from the latest official announcements.
Diploma Compatibility and Required Documents
- A valid passport or official identification document.
- Documents showing the completion of at least 12 years of formal education and a high school diploma.
- It should provide the right to access higher education in the country where the diploma is obtained — in the context of Turkey, this is related to the YKS process (see the Turkish students section below).
- Official translation and legalization/apostille for the diploma/transcript.
- Declaration of Value (DoV) or CIMEA assessment — necessary for the verification of the final educational qualification.
- Codice Fiscale (Italian tax identification number).
- Pre-enrollment via Universitaly for non-EU candidates requiring a visa.

Important considerations
- The English MedInTO program is not conducted in Turin city center, but at the San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital in Orbassano; accommodation and transportation should be planned accordingly.
- The last official quota structure used is 70 EU/Italy-resident + 30 standard Non-EU + 2 Marco Polo (total 102); it should be updated when a new MUR/UniTo announcement is published.
- The EDISU Piemonte scholarship application deadline (early September) is very early and strict; income documents need to be prepared before the IMAT result.
- Apply@UniTo, Universitaly, and IMAT registration are different steps; candidates should follow these schedules separately.
- Italian B2, as much as English proficiency, is a critical requirement for clinical internships from the 3rd year onwards.
- The 2026 IMAT national exam date is September 29, 2026. The 2026/2027 full quota confirmation, IMAT registration window (August 26–September 9, 2026, 15:00 GMT+2), Universitaly/pre-enrollment windows, UniTo local dates, and EDISU call will be updated separately when the official announcements are published.

Assessment for Turkish students
Editorial evaluation
Although the program is known as "Turin," the training of the English MedInTO program is conducted at San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital in Orbassano; Turkish candidates should plan accommodation and transportation based on the reality of Orbassano, not the city center.
The quota structure used is 70 EU/Italy-resident, 30 standard Non-EU, and 2 Marco Polo (total 102). The cut-off evaluation is based on the available site data on this page (2023/2024: 49.0; 2024/2025: 70.8); an official cut-off has not yet been published for 2025/2026 and the ranking position is not shown because it has not been verified with a reliable source.
Apply@UniTo (February 19 – April 15, 2026) should not be confused with the Universitaly/IMAT processes: candidates with a foreign diploma should follow the Apply@UniTo window as far as it applies, but should also closely monitor the national schedule of MUR/Universitaly for Medicine admission and IMAT registration.
For candidates applying from Turkey, the issue is not only the IMAT score. The documents of the University of Turin specify that the candidate's diploma must provide the right to access higher education in the country where it was issued; in the context of Turkey, this rule should be evaluated together with the YKS and diploma eligibility. Therefore, Turkish candidates should plan the processes for IMAT, high school diploma, YKS, DoV/CIMEA, Universitaly, and consulate/visa documents together.
The COU fee system is evaluated based on the ISEE Parificato or GDP per capita (PPP) principle; there is no fee group specifically designated for Turkey. Turkish applicants must decide early whether they will follow the ISEE Parificato or the GDP per capita (PPP) route by submitting consular income/property documents; otherwise, they risk being subject to the maximum COU fee (3,040 € for 2025/2026).
The EDISU Piemonte scholarship application deadline (for 2025/2026 on September 9, 2025) is very early and strict; Turkish candidates should start preparing their income documents before the IMAT results are announced.
Italian B2 can be as critical as English proficiency: an official English certificate is not required for the application, and English proficiency is addressed through an internal assessment after registration (with a risk of OFA if below B2); however, reaching Italian B2 level from the third year onwards for clinical internships is a separate and critical academic requirement.
Frequently asked questions
Is Turin Medicine in English?
Yes. The MedInTO program is conducted entirely in English; however, Italian B2 level is also a critical requirement for the clinical internships starting from the 3rd year.
What is MedInTO?
MedInTO is the common/brand name of the University of Turin's English-taught Medicine and Surgery (LM-41) program. The program is conducted at the San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital hub in Orbassano.
Is the Turin Medicine campus in the city center?
No. The English MedInTO program is carried out in the Orbassano district outside the city center of Turin, at San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital. This is a critical distinction for planning accommodation and transportation.
What is the quota for Turin Medicine?
The last official quota structure used is a total of 102 places, consisting of 70 EU/Italy-resident, 30 standard Non-EU, and 2 Marco Polo. This section should be updated when a new MUR/UniTo announcement is published.
What is the Non-EU quota for Turin?
The standard non-EU quota is 30 people (from the official 2022/2023 bandos, still the latest known official structure). In this site's own cut-off data, there are also year-specific records for 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 amounting to 32 and 31+1 (Marco Polo), respectively.
Is there a Marco Polo quota available?
Yes, in the latest official quota structure, 2 Marco Polo spots are specified separately.
Is IMAT required for Turin Medicine?
Yes. Admission is entirely based on the national IMAT exam.
Are Apply@UniTo and Universitaly the same thing?
No. Apply@UniTo is a general pre-evaluation window for candidates with foreign diplomas between February 19 and April 15, 2026. Universitaly pre-enrollment and IMAT registration, on the other hand, follow a separate national schedule determined by MUR. The two should not be confused.
How is the fee system calculated in Turin?
Through the Comprehensive Single Contribution (COU) system, it can go up to a maximum of €3,040 for 2025/2026. International students can choose one of the calculation methods based on ISEE Parificato (with consular income documents) or GDP per capita (PPP); if neither is used, the maximum tariff is applied.
Can Turkish students apply for the EDISU Piemonte scholarship?
Yes, they can apply by submitting legalized and translated income/property documents. However, the application deadline is very early (September 9, 2025, for 2025/2026); the documents need to be prepared before the IMAT results are announced.
Is it YKS relevant for Turin?
Yes. The University of Turin generally states that the diploma must provide the right to enter a university in the country where it was issued; in the context of Turkey, this is related to the YKS. However, a specific type of score or document format is not presented as a definite requirement on this page.
Why is Italian B2 important in Turin?
Students must have reached Italian B2 level for practical ward clerkships (clinical internships) starting from the 3rd year. This is a critical academic requirement separate from the program's English medium of instruction; passing the internal English and Italian Medical Language course can fulfill this requirement.
This guide is based on the University of Turin / UniTo, MedInTO, EDISU Piemonte, and official application sources. It should be updated when the new MUR/UniTo quota announcement, IMAT registration window (August 26–September 9, 2026, 15:00 GMT+2), Universitaly pre-enrollment schedule, ranking/enrollment dates, and EDISU 2026/2027 bando information are published.
