University of Rome Tor Vergata (Rome Tor Vergata University)
University of Rome Tor Vergata / Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata offers the Medicine and Surgery program conducted in English under the structure of the International Medical School / IMS Tor Vergata. The program is in the LM-41 class, is a six-year and 360 CFU single-cycle medical program. There is a critical point that candidates need to pay attention to: this page only describes the Tor Vergata Medicine and Surgery program in Rome; Tor Vergata's Tirana/Albania track is a separate process, with a separate campus and a separate quota/ranking structure.
When evaluating the program, not only the IMAT cut-off should be considered; the Rome/Tirana distinction, IMAT requirement, the program's 360 CFU structure, at least 60 CFU of professional training, the €2,500 fixed annual contribution specific to Medicine and Surgery, the DiSCo Lazio scholarship, the ISEEUP submission deadline, YKS/diploma eligibility, and the local registration processes with Universitaly and Delphi/Tor Vergata should all be considered together.

The EU and Non-EU quota/cut-off columns show the official ranking data published in the relevant years. Past cut-off values do not guarantee acceptance for future periods.
The Rome-based Tor Vergata quota for 2025/2026 has been verified through direct examination of the official document "Avviso Posti – Medicine and Surgery a.a. 2025-2026, Decreto n. 2795": 60 EU/Italy-resident + 20 standard Non-EU (total 80). This document also reports a completely separate quota for the Tirana track (0 EU/Italy-resident + 150 Non-EU); Tirana data has not been used in any way on this page.
A separate quota for Marco Polo has not been specified in the official decree; therefore, a separate Marco Polo row is not shown in the table.
Direct examination of the official 2025/2026 Rome Extra-EU ranking document ("Graduatoria extra-UE Medicina lingua Inglese sede Roma") has confirmed the following data: the highest score is 80.90 (1st place); the score of the candidate in 42nd place is 63.40. This pertains to the first published round of the ranking; the document itself indicates that from the 20th place onward (a threshold corresponding to the official 20-person Non-EU quota), candidates need to "follow the additional placements (scorrimenti)." Therefore, the 63.40/42nd place data is presented as a reference for the first round, not as a definitive and final placement threshold; the 69.1 data tracked by this site itself (in the table above) continues to remain as a separate and completed reference.
The EU/Italy-resident distinction for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 periods is not shown on this page; for these two years, only the verified Non-EU quota and cut-off data of this site have been used.
Cut-off values reflect past years; they do not constitute a guarantee or a target score commitment for the upcoming academic year.
Program and training structure
The Medicine and Surgery program (International Medical School / IMS Tor Vergata) is a six-year single-cycle program (Single-cycle Master's Degree / Laurea Magistrale a ciclo unico) in the LM-41 class and is conducted entirely in English; it has a total of 360 CFU/ECTS. The program is officially referred to with the course code N39; Tor Vergata's Italian-taught Medicina e Chirurgia program has a separate course code (J54) and is a completely different program.
Students applying to Tor Vergata Medicine should not confuse the Rome-based IMS program with the Tirana/Albania track. The campuses, quotas, rankings, and registration processes of these two paths are completely separate; during Universitaly and IMAT registration, it should be ensured that the correct (Rome) option is selected.
Clinical and didactic activities are centralized at the Tor Vergata campus (Faculty of Medicine buildings) and are integrated with the university's teaching hospital network. At least 60 CFUs of the program are dedicated to professionalizing clinical activities (25 hours per CFU: 20 hours supervised, 5 hours individual study).
The entrance exam (IMAT) consists of 60 questions and is scored out of a maximum of 90 points, with +1.5 points for each correct answer, -0.4 points for each incorrect answer, and 0 points for unanswered questions. According to the official band, a minimum score of 20/90 is required to enter the national ranking for EU/Italy-resident candidates; for non-EU candidates living abroad, there is no such threshold, any score above zero is considered sufficient.
No official source could be found regarding OFA (additional education obligation) or mandatory attendance rules; therefore, no such obligation is claimed on this page. This situation is different from the official OFA rules of Turin/MedInTO.
Tuition Fee
The tuition fee for the Medicine and Surgery program is subject to a special fixed contribution fee (2,500 €) defined separately in the official Student Handbook, different from the university's general international student flat tax (1,000 €/500 €); this amount applies regardless of the country of origin.
In addition to this €2,500, regional tax (€140) and stamp duty (€16) are paid; the expected basic annual salary is €2,656.
The DiSCo Lazio scholarship can be very important in terms of rent, dormitory, food, and cash support; however, it should not be assumed that the fixed contribution of €2,500 for Tor Vergata Medicine is automatically waived. The official source clearly states that this amount also applies to students receiving the DiSCo Lazio scholarship.
Candidates should budget a basic annual charge of €2,656 unless explicitly confirmed otherwise; the DiSCo Lazio scholarship does not automatically eliminate this amount.
2025/2026
University of Rome Tor Vergata organizes its tuition fee through the Contributo Onnicomprensivo Annuale (annual comprehensive contribution) system. For students residing in Italy and included in the ISEE University system, the fee is calculated progressively according to their income status. However, the Medicine and Surgery program is subject to a special contribution regime that is explicitly and separately stated in the official Student Handbook (Guida dello Studente): a fixed, non-negotiable contribution of €2,500 is applied for international students with families generating income abroad (including Turkey, regardless of the country of origin). This amount differs from the €1,000/€500 flat tax system applicable to the general student community and applies only to Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, and a few English-taught Economics/Business programs. In addition to this €2,500, a regional tax (€140) and a stamp duty (€16) are paid; thus the expected basic annual fee is calculated as €2,656. The official source clearly states that this €2,500 contribution must be paid even if the student receives a DiSCo Lazio scholarship — the DiSCo Lazio scholarship does not automatically reduce this contribution.
Scholarship and dormitory applications
The main scholarship and student rights institution in the Lazio region is DiSCo Lazio. For the 2026/2027 period, the relevant call has been officially published under the name "Bando Diritto allo Studio 2026/2027" and applications are submitted through the laziodisco.it portal.
The official calendar for the 2026/2027 academic year has been confirmed as follows: the submission of the application form (first stage) is from June 10 to July 22, 2026, by 12:00; the second stage (correction/completion) is open from July 30 to August 11, 2026, by 12:00. For students not residing in Italy, the final submission date for ISEEUP (foreign income declaration) is December 10, 2026. The deadline for signing the accommodation/rental contract is November 29, 2026, and the final date for entering contract information into the system is December 27, 2026.
Scholarships are a system separate from tuition fees: comprehensive benefits may include accommodation in a student dormitory (or rental contribution for 'out-of-town' students), daily free meals, and cash scholarships; the scope varies according to the annual call text.
Critical planning point: The DiSCo Lazio application deadline (July 22, 2026) comes before the IMAT national exam date of September 29, 2026 in the MUR calendar. This means that Turkish students need to prepare and legalize their family income documents (ISEE Universitario Parificato / ISEEUP) and complete their application before knowing whether they have secured a place in the IMAT.
Important note: The DiSCo Lazio scholarship does not automatically cancel the fixed annual contribution of €2,500 applicable to the Medicine and Surgery program. The official Student Handbook explicitly states that this €2,500 also applies to students receiving the DiSCo Lazio scholarship. Therefore, the DiSCo Lazio scholarship may provide benefits such as accommodation, meals, and cash support, but it is not a mechanism that replaces the Medicine tuition fee.
For income documentation, the ISEE Universitario Parificato (ISEEUP) calculated through a recognized CAF (Centro di Assistenza Fiscale) is used; the documents must be translated and legalized.
This information has been presented in order to explain the general operation of the DiSCo Lazio scholarship process for the 2026/2027 period; eligibility for the scholarship is not guaranteed and is assessed separately each academic year according to the conditions of the current call text.
Non-EU application roadmap
- 1
IMAT / Universitaly — national program access
Admission is entirely based on the national IMAT exam (national programmed access). The 2026 IMAT national exam date is September 29, 2026, according to the MUR calendar. Non-EU candidates who require a visa should pre-enroll through Universitaly; the IMAT registration window, Universitaly deadline, and Tor Vergata local ranking/enrollment dates should also be checked through current announcements.
- 2
Do not confuse the processes: Universitaly, IMAT, Delphi, and DiSCo Lazio are separate systems
Universitaly pre-enrollment, IMAT registration, the local registration/payment process carried out through Tor Vergata's Delphi portal, and the DiSCo Lazio scholarship application are four separate processes and have separate schedules. Ranking and registration documents should also not be confused between the Rome and Tirana tracks; the student must make sure that they have selected the correct (Rome) track in Universitaly and ranking documents.
- 3
Reference calendar for the 2025/2026 period (historical example, not valid for 2026/2027)
In the completed 2025/2026 cycle, exam registration was done through Universitaly between August 26 – September 9, 2025 (15:00, GMT+2), the IMAT exam was held on September 17, 2025, candidates were able to view their results on October 6, 2025, the national ranking was published on October 13, 2025, and the first additional placement (scorrimento) took place on October 20, 2025. These dates are provided solely as a historical reference to show how the process worked; the same schedule should not be assumed for 2026/2027.
- 4
Local registration (immatricolazione) via Delphi
Candidates listed in the ranking register online via delphi.uniroma2.it, pay the first installment through the PagoPa system, and confirm their registration. Students with a foreign diploma who require a visa must also submit the "Allegato B" documents and formalize their registration through the Ufficio Studenti Stranieri (International Students Office). "ASSEGNATO" (assigned) candidates must register within 4 days after each scorrimento; if this period is missed, the right to placement is lost.
Diploma Compatibility and Required Documents
- A valid passport or official identification document.
- Documents showing the completion of at least 12 years of formal education and a high school diploma.
- It should provide the right to access higher education in the country where the diploma is obtained — in the context of Turkey, this is related to the YKS process (see the Turkish students section below).
- There are two alternative ways to diploma equivalency: (1) the CIMEA Statement of Verification — for countries that have signed the Lisbon Convention (Turkey is included in this list) together with the ARDI Correspondence Certificate (Attestato di Corrispondenza ARDI, free download from the ARDI database); or (2) the traditional consular route: diploma translation, legalization by the Hague Apostille or the Italian Diplomatic Mission, and issuance of the Declaration of Value (DoV).
- Pre-enrollment via Universitaly for non-EU candidates requiring a visa.
- In addition, for students with foreign diplomas, the "Allegato B" documents and enrollment procedures formalized through the Ufficio Studenti Stranieri.
- After registration (within 60 days from the date of immatricolazione): Mantoux tuberculin test and Hepatitis B vaccination certificate must be uploaded.

- 4
National ranking publication and first round results13 Ekim 2025
It has been verified through direct examination of the official document "Graduatoria extra-UE Medicina lingua Inglese sede Roma": the highest score is 80.90; the score of the candidate in 42nd place is 63.40. The document itself specifies that, starting from the 20th place (a point corresponding to the official 20-person Non-EU quota), the candidates' subsequent placements (scorrimenti) should be followed. Therefore, the 63.40/42nd place data should be considered as a first-round reference and not interpreted as a guarantee of final placement.
- 5
Scrolling (additional registration) and enrollmentOctober 20, 2025 (first additional placement)
Candidates who have been assigned (ASSEGNATO) must register through Delphi within 4 days; candidates who have been reserved (PRENOTATO) can also register or wait for the next scorrimento. The first additional placement took place on October 20, 2025; subsequent rounds follow the same 4-day registration rule.

Important considerations
- This page is only for the Rome-based Medicine and Surgery program; Tor Vergata's Tirana/Albania track has a completely separate campus, quota, and ranking structure.
- The Rome quota for 2025/2026 (60 EU/Italy-resident + 20 Non-EU = 80 total) has been directly confirmed from the official decreto; this field should be updated when a new MUR/Tor Vergata quota announcement is published.
- The tuition fee for the Medicine and Surgery program is subject to a fixed contribution fee (2,500 € + 156 € tax/fee = 2,656 €) defined separately in the official source, different from the university's general international flat tax structure (1,000 €/500 €); this amount applies even if there is a DiSCo Lazio scholarship.
- The DiSCo Lazio scholarship application deadline (for 2026/2027 on July 22, 2026) comes before the IMAT exam; income documents need to be prepared early.
- Universitaly, IMAT registration, the local Delphi registration process, and the DiSCo Lazio scholarship application are different processes; candidates should follow these timelines separately.
- The 2026 IMAT national exam date is September 29, 2026. The 2026/2027 full quota confirmation, IMAT registration window (August 26–September 9, 2026, 15:00 GMT+2), Universitaly/pre-enrollment windows, and Tor Vergata local dates will be updated separately when official announcements are published.
Assessment for Turkish students
Editorial evaluation
This page is only for the Rome-based Medicine and Surgery / IMS Tor Vergata program; Tor Vergata also has a separate Tirana/Albania track. Turkish applicants should make sure to select the correct (Rome) option during Universitaly and IMAT registration — the two tracks do not overlap in campus, quota, or ranking structures. Applicants who want to consider alternatives within Rome should also check the Sapienza page.
For 2025/2026, the Rome quota has been officially confirmed as 60 EU/Italy-resident + 20 standard Non-EU (total 80). The cut-off assessment is based on the site data available on this page (2023/2024: 49.0; 2024/2025: 60.6; 2025/2026: 69.1). In addition, by directly examining the official 2025/2026 Rome Extra-EU ranking document, it has been confirmed that the highest score is 80.90 and the score of the candidate in 42nd place is 63.40; however, this belongs to the first published round of the ranking and should not be interpreted as a definitive/final placement threshold — candidates from 20th place corresponding to the official 20-person quota are asked to follow any additional placements (scorrimenti).
The tuition fee for the Medicine and Surgery program is different from Tor Vergata's general international student flat tax (1,000 €/500 €): the official Student Handbook sets a fixed contribution (2,500 €) for this program, regardless of the country of origin. When regional tax and stamp duty (156 €) are added, the expected base annual fee reaches 2,656 €. This amount must be paid even if the student receives a DiSCo Lazio scholarship — the official source clearly states this. Turkish applicants should therefore plan their fees based on 2,656 € and should not assume that the DiSCo Lazio scholarship will automatically cover this amount.
The application deadline for the DiSCo Lazio scholarship (for 2026/2027, July 22, 2026, at 12:00) comes before the IMAT exam. Therefore, Turkish students must prepare and legalize their family income documents (ISEEUP, final submission date December 10, 2026) before knowing whether they have secured a place in the IMAT. This scholarship does not replace tuition fees; it provides separate benefits such as accommodation, meals, and cash support.
For candidates applying from Turkey, the high school diploma must provide the right to access higher education in Turkey. Therefore, YKS, diploma eligibility, ARDI/CIMEA or DoV, and consular documents should be evaluated together. For this reason, Turkish candidates should also plan IMAT, high school diploma, Universitaly, and Delphi/local registration processes within the same timeline.
An English certificate is not mandatory for the initial application; according to the official band, it only comes into play in the case of equal scores, after all other tie-break criteria in the ranking (subject-based score ranking: biology, chemistry, physics/mathematics, logical reasoning, reading comprehension) have been exhausted; it is self-declared. This is a separate issue from the program's English language of instruction.
Frequently asked questions
Is Tor Vergata Medicine in English?
Yes. International Medical School / IMS Tor Vergata (LM-41, course code N39) is conducted entirely in English; this is completely separate from the Medicina e Chirurgia program conducted in Italian (course code J54).
Is this page for the Rome program or the Tirana program?
This page covers only the Rome-based program. Tor Vergata also runs a completely separate extra-EU track in Tirana, Albania; the campuses, quotas, and rankings of these two programs do not overlap.
Is IMAT required for Tor Vergata Medicine?
Yes. Admission relies entirely on the national IMAT exam (national programmed access).
How many years and how many CFU is Tor Vergata Medicine?
The program is a six-year, single-cycle Master's Degree and has a total of 360 CFU/ECTS; at least 60 of these CFUs are allocated to professionalizing clinical activities.
How much is Non-EU tuition at Tor Vergata?
The official Student Handbook for the Medicine and Surgery program sets a fixed contribution fee, independent of the country of origin: €2,500. When regional tax (€140) and stamp duty (€16) are added, the expected basic annual fee becomes €2,656. This amount is different from the university's general international student flat tax (€1,000/€500) and is specific to certain programs such as Medicine and Pharmacy.
Does the €2,500 medicine contribution replace the DiSCo scholarship?
No. The official source clearly states that this €2,500 contribution must be paid even if a student is receiving a DiSCo Lazio scholarship. The DiSCo Lazio scholarship may provide separate rights such as accommodation, meals, and cash support, but it does not automatically waive the Medicine tuition fee.
Why is the DiSCo Lazio deadline critical?
The application deadline for 2026/2027 (July 22, 2026, at 12:00) comes before the IMAT exam. Therefore, students must prepare their income documents and complete their applications during the summer, before knowing their IMAT result or placement. The deadline for ISEEUP is December 10, 2026.
Is YKS relevant for Turkish students?
Yes. The international student regulations of Tor Vergata generally require that the diploma provides the right to enter a university in the country where it was issued; in the context of Turkey, this is related to the YKS. However, a specific type of score or document format is not presented as a definite requirement on this page.
Are Universitaly and Delphi the same thing?
No. Universitaly is a national pre-enrollment and IMAT registration portal for Non-EU applicants who require a visa. Delphi (delphi.uniroma2.it), on the other hand, is Tor Vergata's own local registration/payment portal and allows candidates listed in the ranking to actually enroll in the university. They are separate steps.
English certificate gerekiyor mu?
No, it is not a mandatory application requirement. According to the official notice, an English language certificate (one of those listed in Annex 3) is only the last tie-break criterion that comes into play if there is a tie in scores, after all other tie-break criteria (subject-based scores, age) have been exhausted, and it is self-declared at the time of registration.
Are the rankings of Rome and Tirana the same?
No. The official quota decree reports completely separate numbers for Rome and Tirana (Rome: 60 EU/Italy-resident + 20 Non-EU; Tirana: 0 EU/Italy-resident + 150 Non-EU) and the ranking processes of the two tracks are separate. This page only uses the Rome data; in the 2025/2026 Rome ranking, the highest score is 80.90, and the score of the 42nd place is 63.40 (first round data).
This guide is based on the University of Rome Tor Vergata, International Medical School, DiSCo Lazio, and official application sources. Quota, ranking, and tuition fee data have been verified from the relevant official documents. The 2026 IMAT national exam date is September 29, 2026, according to the MUR calendar; the 2026/2027 quota, IMAT registration window (August 26–September 9, 2026, 15:00 GMT+2), Universitaly/pre-enrollment windows, and Tor Vergata local dates will be updated separately when published.
