University of Milano-Bicocca — Bergamo English Medicine Program

The Medicine and Surgery program at Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca is a six-year, 360 CFU English single-cycle degree program in the LM-41 class. Admission is conducted through IMAT and the relevant national ranking process.

Although the name of the university includes Milan, the official educational location of the program is Bergamo. The program is conducted as a joint degree with the University of Bergamo; the main clinical center is ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital. This page describes a program different from the University of Milan / Milano Statale International Medical School page.

A total of 48 nationally planned places have been confirmed in the 2025/2026 and 2024/2025 academic regulations. Since the EU, Non-EU abroad, and Marco Polo sub-distribution cannot be clearly determined in the official documents accessed, the 18-person site cut-off record is not used as the official quota; the 2026/2027 quota should be checked from the latest announcement.

The EU and Non-EU quota/cut-off columns show the official ranking data published in the relevant years. Past cut-off values do not guarantee acceptance for future periods.

Official academic regulations show the total program as 48 nationally planned places for 2025/2026 and 2024/2025. However, since the EU/equated, Non-EU abroad, and Marco Polo sub-distribution cannot be reliably extracted from the accessed documents, the quota cells in the table have been left empty.

The total for 2026/2027 and the sub-quota distribution should not be used without verification from the published current MUR or Medicine-specific Bicocca document. The total of 48 for the previous two years is not an automatic assumption for the new cycle.

The values of 65.1 for 2025; 72.6 for 2024; and 54.2 for 2023 come from the site's historical IMAT cut-off database. These values serve as historical references instead of the official final Bicocca ranking document and do not guarantee admission in the future.

The 18 seats area seen next to Bicocca in the site's cut-off table has not been used on this page as the official Non-EU quota. Cut-off data and the official total program quota are different data layers.

Program and training structure

Medicine and Surgery is a six-year, 360 CFU joint degree program jointly conducted by the University of Milano-Bicocca and the University of Bergamo. The first-year plan for 2025/2026 is 61 CFU; in the total program, there are 15 CFU TPV and more than 90 CFU of professionalizing activities.

The program includes 24-credit integrated course and 10 clerkships. Clerkship activities are evaluated on a pass/fail basis; completion of TPV obligations is required for the habilitating final degree process.

Courses, laboratories, and practices can be distributed between Bergamo Via Nini da Fano, the Monza medical infrastructure of Milano-Bicocca, and the relevant engineering units of the University of Bergamo. The center of the clinical backbone is the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital network in Bergamo; accommodation and transportation planning should not be based on a Milan-centered assumption.

Attendance is mandatory. Without meeting the attendance requirement, one cannot take the exam and there is a risk of having to retake the course; candidates planning daily travel from a different city should take this operational burden into account.

A student who scores below 30% of the maximum points in the core discipline areas of the admission test may be assigned an OFA/remedial requirement. OFA is not an admission rejection; it is an additional academic support responsibility that must be completed in the first year.

A student who is not an Italian citizen and does not hold an Italian high school diploma must complete the Italian Language course and the eligibility requirement. This qualification is not a prerequisite for admission; however, it is an official academic progression requirement for access to clinical clerkship activities numbered 4–10.

Tuition Fee

€456 is not an automatic fee for every Turkish citizen. The fixed contribution profile depends on the combined evaluation of foreign citizenship, diploma obtained abroad, and foreign residence conditions. A foreign student residing in Italy can enter the normal ISEE-based regime.

The first installment deadline for a Limited-access Medicine and Surgery student is determined through admission ranking and the Medicine-specific notice, not from the general September 30 calendar. The general second installment date for 2025/2026 is January 16, 2026; there is no third installment in the fixed profile.

In the general system, the third installment date is May 15, 2026, and the late payment increase is specified as 10% up to 60 days, and 15% for longer delays. These should also be checked separately according to the student's own fee profile and the current cycle arrangement.

The DSU economic document system is not the same process as the university's tuition category. Foreign income documents required for scholarship applications must be prepared independently of the fixed tuition profile.

2026/2027

2025/2026

A Turkish student who falls under the university's international student definition, resides in Turkey, and obtained their diploma abroad pays a total of €456 in the Group 1 + Area B fixed contribution structure, consisting of an initial installment of €156 and a second installment of €300; a third installment is not foreseen for this profile.

DSU and Bicocca International Scholarship Programme (BISP)

There are two separate support lines at Milano-Bicocca: DSU right-to-study support based on economic and academic conditions and the university's merit-based Bicocca International Scholarship Programme (BISP) scholarship. These are not the same scholarship and may not be combined with each other.

In the 2025/2026 DSU historical calendar, the scholarship application closed on September 30, 2025, and the residence application closed on August 25, 2025. Since the final ranking for residence is on September 16 and IMAT is on September 17, 2025, the residence process was concluded before the exam; this indicates that in the next call, the scholarship and residence calendar should also be followed independently of the admission result.

DSU provisional ranking has been published as October 31, final ranking as November 28, 2025, and the first payment as December 31, 2025. For the continuation of the scholarship in the first year, a high school grade equivalent to 70/100 and 35 CFU by August 10, 2026, are not admission requirements but scholarship conditions.

Students residing abroad had to submit their financial documents by September 30, 2025; the date for the visa document was January 30, 2026. Medicine and Surgery students who could not register by October 16 could benefit from a special exception extending to March 31, 2026, for the lease/living arrangement document. These dates are a historical reference; the new DSU call should also be read separately.

The 2026/2027 BISP call covers Medicine and Surgery: it offers 5 scholarships per eligible program, an annual gross of €10,000, and tuition exemption. In the limited-access program, selection is made based on the admission ranking; support is not automatic or guaranteed.

BISP is not compatible with the DSU scholarship and DSU-related meal/housing benefits. The candidate should make a choice by considering both the economic net effect of the two lines and the fringe benefits they would have to forgo.

Non-EU application roadmap

  1. 1

    Medicine-specific Notice of Competition

Instead of general international student pages, the program's current admission band text is the primary source for application, documents, ranking, and enrollment. Exact dates for 2026/2027 should also be checked separately.

  2. 2

    Apply.UNIMIB / DreamApply qualification assessment

From 2025/2026 onwards, it is the qualification assessment channel for candidates with international diplomas. This process does not replace the Medicine-specific admission process or IMAT.

  3. 3

    Universitaly pre-enrollment

Non-EU candidates subject to a visa also complete the Universitaly pre-registration separately; the Universitaly process, which is the basis for the visa, and the university application are different stages.

  4. 4

    IMAT national examSeptember 29, 2026

MUR'un 2026/2027 ulusal takvimindeki English Medicine and Surgery admission testidir.

  5. 5

    Identity and visa document check

On the exam day, the identity document must be the same as the one used in the Universitaly registration. Extra-EU candidates may be asked for a copy of the Italy entry visa or a valid residence permit (permesso di soggiorno).

  6. 6

    Ranking, enrolment and first installment

After the result, the current ranking and the short registration window are monitored. The due date of the first installment for limited-access is read from the relevant ranking/admission notice, not from the general calendar.

Diploma Compatibility and Required Documents

  • Valid passport or identity document used for Universitaly registration.
  • A high school diploma showing that at least 12 years of education have been completed.
  • Transcript showing senior year courses and grades.
  • If required for access to higher education in the country of origin, a document showing the context of YKS/the country's access exam; a fixed YKS score threshold not indicated in the current official source is not used.
  • For a Non-EU candidate subject to a visa, Universitaly pre-enrollment receipt and visa documents.
  • The B2 English certificate accepted for Non-EU candidates subject to a visa does not replace the IMAT result.
  • A copy of the high school diploma with the required official translation, apostille/legalization procedures completed.
  • If the university wants, through DreamApply, CIMEA Statement of Comparability and/or Verification.
  • If DSU is considered, the foreign family income, assets, and household documents requested in the call.

Ranking and registration process

  1. 1

    Ulusal admission ranking

Placement proceeds based on the IMAT score and the national/local pool rules applied to the candidate's status; the current band is decisive.

  2. 2

Separate the Non-EU pool with the total quota

The total program for 2025/2026 is 48. Since the EU/Non-EU sub-distribution could not be extracted from the official texts accessed, the site's historical record of 18 seats has not been counted as the official quota.

  3. 3

    Data matching in documents

Passport, personal information on Apply.UNIMIB/DreamApply and Universitaly must be consistent with each other; the same ID should be used on exam day.

  4. 4

    B2 and enrollment documents

The obligation for a B2 certificate and translated/legalized diploma for a visa-required Non-EU candidate is an enrollment/visa risk separate from admission ranking.

Important considerations

  • The program is not in downtown Milan, it is in Bergamo. Accommodation, commuting, and daily living budget should be planned without confusing it with Milano Statale IMS.
  • The 2026/2027 quota and the EU/Non-EU/Marco Polo sub-distribution have not been confirmed; the total of 48 or the 18 seats record on the site should not be used as the new cycle quota.
  • A B2 English certificate is required for non-EU candidates who are subject to a visa. Having taken the IMAT does not remove this obligation.
  • The attendance rule is strict; there is a risk of not being able to access advanced clerkship activities until Italian Language eligibility is completed.
  • DSU and BISP cannot be used together; choosing BISP may result in the forfeiture of DSU meal/housing entitlements.

Assessment for Turkish students

Editorial evaluation

For a candidate applying from Turkey with a foreign-resident profile, the official fee reference for 2025/2026 is €156 + €300 = €456. This value belongs only to the profile that falls under the relevant international student definition; a candidate residing in Italy or with a different status can enter the ISEE-based system.

In the application file, four processes must be followed separately: Medicine-specific admission notice, Apply.UNIMIB/DreamApply qualification review, Universitaly pre-enrollment, and IMAT. Completing one does not mean the others are automatically completed.

The Bergamo campus is decisive in program selection. University of Milan is a separate IMS program of Milano Statale; for nearby region alternatives, the pages of University of Pavia and University of Turin can be compared.

The B2 certificate, diploma translation/legalization, and, if necessary, CIMEA and the YKS context showing the right to access higher education in Turkey should be prepared early. If a scholarship is being considered, DSU financial documents should also be planned separately without waiting for the admission result.
