Research Method

The report uses Q05–Q09 lines of 2026 Item Coding data in the workbook. Analytical difficulty, DOK, skill, format, component loads and times Research Lab is analytical encoding; an official IMAT metric criteria or not observed candidate performance.

All Logical Reasonings have passed the second internal consistency control. This process is not an independent assessment work.

General Profile of Logical Reasoning Part

Logical Reasoning accounts for 5 questions and 8.3% of 60 questions. Average analytical difficulty 11.40/25, median 11/25. A question is low and four questions in the medium band; there is no question in high or very-high band.

Four items measure Problem Solving, while one measures Deduction. Quantitative content is pronounced, but the section tests not only arithmetic execution but also construction of the correct relationships and reference structure.

Subject and Problems Families

Quantitative Reasoning creates 60% of the section with three questions. Q05 is under the main issue of Pattern Recognition in the source taxonomy despite strong quantitative processing; Q09 is classified under Formal Logic.

Calculation load1.80 / 5Quantitative content is marked but unit conversion Tags
Attention load2.80 / 5Search and select the correct model
Distractor strength2.80 / 5Alternative rule, ratio direction and scope errors

It is the most powerful average components with 2,80/5 of reasoning and distractor structure. Language load 1.60/5; calculation load is 1.80/5. Average 53 and median 45 seconds analyst estimate is not real candidate response time.

Distractor Architecture

Q05 alternative sequence trap, Q06 formula/arithmetic error, Q07 ratio direction, Q08 incorrect reference-population selection, Q09 targets overgeneralisation of an existential claim.

Five different wrong structure shows that the correct answer should be reached by establishing the correct structure of the relationship not only by processing. Since there is no candidate option data, these are not an empirical.

Curriculum Compliance

All five Logical Reasoning items are directly matched with the syllabus encoding provided; 5/5 controversy flag is registered as “No”, coding “High” and QC status “Second-pass checked”.

These results only show Research Lab matching with source syllabus coding; it does not mean official verification of all possible comments.

Question Spots

The following notes describe the analytical role of five items without republishing copyrights.

Q05

Recursive numerical sequence

14/25 · DOK 3 · 75 sec

The aim is not only to extend numbers, but to separate the recursive quotient rule from plausible alternative sequence rules. The most analytically demanding item with Q08.

Q08

Nested percentages

14/25 · DOK 3 · 65 sec

Part-time and bonus rates require interconnected reference population structure correctly. Basic trap is to use 20% of the total instead of full-time employees.

Q09

Existential syllogism

11/25 · DOK 2 · 45 sec

The existential conclusion follows from the universal carnivore premise and the feline/carnivore relationship; solving it requires avoiding overgeneralisation.

Q06

Polygon diagonals

10/25 · DOK 2 · 45 sec

The polygon item requires correct application of the diagonal formula; formula selection and arithmetic errors are the main distractors.

Q07

Algebraic proportionality

8/25 · DOK 2 · 35 sec

By combining two bonds, a variable refers to another. It is DOK 2, although the unique least analytically demanding item of the department.

Within the Research Lab framework, average analytical difficulty and DOK depth remain notably stable from 2025 to 2026; the DOK distributions are identical. The structural difference lies in the composition of difficulty: the 2026 set contains less language-heavy relational and constraint material, with more numerical, algebraic and pattern-based problem solving. This does not establish that the section was easier for candidates.

Preparation Takeaways

  • Practise recursive rules as well as straightforward arithmetic sequences.
  • Retain standard quantitative relationships such as the polygon-diagonal formula.
  • Verify the direction of algebraic relationships.
  • Identify the reference group clearly in nested-percentage questions.
  • Translate everyday scenarios into mathematical models.
  • Maintain practice in formal syllogisms and quantifier reasoning.
  • Avoid overgeneralising existential conclusions.
  • Set up the relationship before doing the arithmetic.
  • Do not neglect non-quantitative logic practice; the 2025 section contained more relational and constraint-based tasks.
  • Do not assume that the 2026 quantitative profile will repeat in 2027.

Methodological Limitations

  • The Analytical Difficulty is not an official IMAT metric.
  • No candidate accuracy rate and actual response time data.
  • Periods are analyst estimate.
  • Distractor analysis explains the structure of reasoning traps designed; the option is not observed option-selection frequency.
  • DOK contains analyst assessment of skills and format coding.
  • The second control is not independent inter-rater reliability study.
  • The curriculum compliance is evaluated according to source syllabus coding.
  • The five-question sample is small.
  • 2025–2026 differences are quantitative and do not predict the future Logical Reasoning structure.
